"Nobody in the movie business can afford to miss this man's mind." -- Quincy Jones --Quincy Jones

For over 15 years, Robert McKee's Story Seminar has been the world's ultimate writing class for over 40,000 screenwriters, filmmakers, TV writers, novelists, industry executives, actors, producers, directors and playwrights. Over three intense days, McKee's Story Seminar effectively demonstrates the relationship between story design and character.

McKee teaches the principles involved in the art and craft of screenwriting and story design, and proves the essence of good story is unchanging and universal. Whether on the big screen, on television, in novels, on stage and in ALL creative work, everything works in the shadow of classic story design.

Graduates of McKee's Story Seminar have earned: 26 Academy Awards, 124 Emmy Awards and 17 DGA awards and have written such recent blockbusters as The Lord of the Rings (I, II & III), The Davinci Code and CSI. For more information, please see Mr. Mckee's website: www.mckeestory.com.

Doors open at 7:45 am Friday – please allow adequate time to register as the seminar starts at 9am sharp. Saturday and Sunday, you just need to make sure you are all in your seats and settled by 8:59am.

There is a 15 minute break every two hours and one hour for lunch. When you register, you will receive a workbook containing break times (and assorted articles). 9am – 8:30pm is a long day, but the time goes by quite quickly. Seats are padded and comfortable, but you may wish to bring a clipboard to serve as a writing tablet.

There are lots of lunch options within a 10 minute walk of the venue (food court at Oakridge Mall, 41st at Cambie). The cafe inside the community centre will also be open and serves a variety of soups, salads and sandwiches. There are also two convenience stores (gas station type) across the street for coffee and snacks during the shorter breaks.

If your registration was part of a group or school promotion, please bring your membership card or student ID to present at check-in.

Recording of the seminar is not allowed. You will want to bring pens and lots of paper. You may use a laptop provided it doesn’t disturb anyone around you.
