Sabre
Sabre is dearly missed by Dee Wallace.
A few words:
Sabre was the greatest friend a person could ask for. He had been
shuttled around to four different homes in two different provinces
before we adopted him and to this day I cannot fathom why anyone would
NOT treasure this dog. He became my greatest companion, confidant and friend.
His three favourite things in the world were chasing his Kong ball, chasing sticks
(some the size of a railroad tie!) and playing in the water. He asked for nothing
in return except love, a tummy scratch and perhaps the occasional privilege of sleeping
on the couch. He got all of those in spades.
Sabre died quite suddenly in 1995 after his spinal cord swelled and he became paralyzed from
the middle of his back to his back end. We let the vet try drugs on him for two days
to decrease the swelling but, when it was obvious nothing would work, we made the
heart-wrenching decision to send him to the Rainbow Bridge. There is not a day that
goes by that I don't miss that fuzzy face, those satellite-dish ears and that heart that
was as big as Texas. I love you Sabre-dog; I know there is an endless supply of Kong
balls where you are...
