Jake
1990 - November 6, 1998
My doggie's name was Jake. I accepted him from a friend who was having
a hard time at home. She had him for only a few months and the people
that she had gotten Jake from had left him alone alot. He was a 9 lb.
dachshund starving for love.
My husband was resistant to having a dog. But Jake was a natural
charmer. Charlie took to Jake instantly. Jake followed Charlie from
room to room. He would grunt and groan by Charlie's feet till he would
pick him up and hold him on his lap. We carried that little spoiled dog
everywhere! Everywhere that we went, Jake went, to family gatherings,
the drive-in-movies, picnics.
In the short three years that we had him, Jake suffered from many
health problems.
He went blind, had back problems, and also had epilepsy. But we loved
him and took care of him. During the last weeks of October of this year
he became weaker in his back legs.
We hoped that the vet could help him, but nothing could be done. Only a
few days later, Jake could not even use his front legs or stand. We
made the very painful decision to have him put to sleep. The vet's
staff were wonderful, with all his medical problems, they seen him
alot. I will never forget how it felt to stroke his silky ears that
last night on November 6, 1998.
We had him cremated so that he will be with us. He was well loved
and is missed terribly. He was so easy to please and a very happy dog.
The love that he gave to us is immeasurable. I will never forget my
little Jakemms.
