Katy

I remember the night I adopted her, a street mutt at my neighborhood fishing hole, a lover's lane on the Bay. She was sitting there waiting for her master to return. She had no idea she had been abandoned, six months old and pregnant. She took some food from me, then went back and laid down where she had been left, staring down the road looking for her master.

I had heard it said that you cannot choose a dog, the dog chooses you. This must have been the case, because I had no plans of adopting a dog but somehow when I looked at her face I knew I couldn't leave her there for the Animal Control folks.

She came home with me and gave me 16 (or 17, I can't remember) years of total joy. She was a wonderful pet and devoted mother to her 8 fat, healthy pups.

Thanks Katy, you'll always be my little dog.
