Toby

My son, Chad, just recently lost his best friend, Toby, who was 12 years old. My son Chad is 9 yrs old now, but Toby has been with him every day for the past 6 years. Toby was a beautiful, warm hearted, loving, fun Golden Retriever. He would always lay next to Chad every night in his bed. They were inseparable!

Toby loved to go to Canada with Chad and his Dad in the summertime to their cabin in the woods. Toby loved to ride on the boat and jump into the water and chase the fish. His favorite chew toy was his big bone. Toby would put his two front paws up on Chad's shoulder and walk with him on his 2 back legs. When it was time for Chad to come to my house, I am his Mom, Toby would look out the garage door to say "Goodbye" to Chad. Sometimes Chad would cry in the car because he missed him so much, but as soon as he would get home, Toby would come out running up to the car door to greet him.

He was such a sweet dog who was loved by so many people. He is greatly missed. He will never be able to be replaced in our hearts. Toby had cancer, and I still remember the day I received the message on my answering machine, my son Chad called crying to tell me that Toby had gone to heaven. It was so hard to be in one place while your grieving son had just lost his best friend, the special dog that held and will always hold a very big part in my son's heart. The pain of hearing your son cry with such a deep hurt in his heart his overwhelming.

Toby landed up in the vet's because he got real sick in just one night. He was in the vet's for about a week when his Dad had a choice to make. Chad was woken up by his Dad to find out Toby had passed on. My son's tears still flow sadly, oftenly ..the pain is more than a child should endure.

We know that Toby Bigelow is in heaven playing with his friend "CJ" and all the other special dogs that have crossed over the rainbow bridge too. Toby, Chad wants you to know how loved you were by him. You were his sunshine in his life, you will always be in his heart and thoughts. You gave him love when he was sad, you laid next to him when he just got home from having his hand surgery and made him feel better, you played ball with him -- you meant the world to him.

Now you are no longer in pain, Toby. Run free, jump in the air and catch the frisbee. Come visit us whenever you want, Chad needs to know your okay. Please, for his Mom's sake.Chad misses you so much.

Take care of yourself Toby and we look forward to that special day when we can all hold you again, and Chad can run with you and play with you and tell you how much your loved!!!!

ps-I am sorry I was not strong enough to put up your Christmas stocking this year, the pain was so fresh still in my heart of losing you. Please forgive me, you were still in my heart and thoughts. Merry Christmas Toby! I promise it will be up next year!
