Jake

Jake "Paws" Bickford 11/29/99 - 6/23/02

Jake was a beautiful black lab. He came from a litter of 13 pups. The day we picked him out, we decided on him because he had the biggest paws of the litter, not to mention the most adorable face! We brought him home and loved him from that moment.

Jake grew up doing all sorts of fun activities. He would go running in the woods with his Daddy all the time, it was one of his favorite things to do! Jake would run beside his Daddy who would be riding his Mountain Bike, and if his daddy stopped for even a second Jake would bark and bark, almost as though he was saying 'c'mon! no stopping! I want to run!".... Jake would go everywhere with us, he was such a well tempered dog, and everyone who met him instantly loved him.

Last year was Jake's second year climbing Mt. Washington! He loved to be outdoors with his mommy and daddy, he was always sooo happy. Of course being a Lab, Jake absolutley LOVED to be in the water. He would be our navigator when boating on Lake Winnepisaukee, he's stand straigh up, snout out, right on the front of the boat and just watch ahead. He loved to leap off the boat after his Daddy so that he could swim.

On Sunday, June 23rd, while doing what he loved to do best, Jake collapsed in the woods while running beside his beloved Master. CPR was performed, and his Daddy had to carry him about 3 miles to get him out of the woods and to the vet. Unfortunatley, it was too late. We're not sure of the exact cause of death, it could've been a few different things, but regardless we are devastated. He was only 4 1/2 yrs old, and such a happy, energetic dog.

We will always remember him, and how happy he was. He was so loved by all that knew him. He brought so many smiles to our faces, and although 4 1/2 years doesn't seem like barely enough time to have him as such a special part of our lives, we are so very thankful for the time we did have, and we will never forget him. Jake was one of a kind and he will live on in our hearts forever.

We LOVE and MISS you very much Jakey!!!! We know you're still out in those woods running around!!! We will never forget you!!
