Augie
Oh Augie, we can barely believe you are gone. We look for you at the back
door and running around the backyard and hopping up on the bed at night to
snuggle next to us a bit.
We picked Augie out from a litter of 5 or 6 puppies when he was about 5
weeks old. He came to live with us in July of 1989 and was a romping,
happy ball of fluff for 12 years. On Sept. 29, 2001, he got sick with a
lung problem and on Oct. 2, 2001, we hugged him and said goodbye as the vet
put him to sleep. Such a hard thing to do, and so unexpected.
Augie was a wonderful dog who loved to play fetch the tennis ball, loved
his long walks with his buddy, Smokey, and loved to play games of "chase
me" and swat with our cat, Alex. Augie was especially good at "hugs",
putting his head on my shoulder and nuzzling my ear. He loved to run along
the fence as the squirrels danced on the edge. And several times he
alerted us that Alex had escaped the house and slipped into the backyard.
He announced loud and clear through your Beardie bark that Alex was not
where he should be! Augie, we love you dearly and will always remember
you.
Augie (August Fawn Beardie)was born May 28, 1989 and died October 2, 2001
at age 12.
