Mei Lei

Mei Lei (Mindy) Shih Tzu

August 28th 1985 - September 21st 2000

After 15 years we have lost our "Little Ray of Sunshine". To us she was not just a dog she was a real unique person in every way. At times because of her arrogant personality and mannerism we felt that she actually was the owner of our house and that we should feel very grateful that she allowed us to reside there with her.

We have many cherished memories of Mindy, one in particualr was that right up to the last day of her life, was the beautiful gift she bestowed on us all was her "Unconditional Love". She became the centre of our lives, wherever we went she came too. Quite frequently if we were unable to take her with us we just didn't go. If at any time a situation arose and we were forced to leave her home on our return she would first of all welcome us warmly then, she would jump up at us and give us a litle nip on our posterior as if to say "Dont do this again as I am not a happy lassie when I'm left home alone".

During her lifetime she did have some medical problems which led to her having to have some surgical procedures. Her vet was amazed how she coped with any type of pain and that after a while there were never any scars evident. She was always the perfect patient and was very popular with all the staff, it was as if she was a part of their extended family. At times she became nervous when she had to visit the clinic but she always co-operated.

She had an unexpected heart attack and although the vet did not think she would last out the night, she did. I know the reason was that she was not ready to leave us then as she wanted to make sure that we all would be able to cope without her being around. About three months later she must have decided that the time was right and she had given so much of herself she was becoming very tired as she knew of a lovely place for her to rest and become her youthful self again. Then one day in the future we would all meet and the cross over the "RAINBOW BRIDGE" together never more to be parted and to share eternal life.

We know that time heals all sorrows but our loss will always be the cross we carry through the rest of our lives, but we are looking on the positive side as I know Mindy wouldn't want it to be any other way. We know and feel her spirit surrounding us and feel so blessed that we were given the privilidge to share "Our Girlie's Life" because she did "Light Up Our Lives" and the glow will comfort us for the rest of our lives.
