Samantha Louise
April 30th. 15 years ago today I picked up my puppy. And today my doggie
went to bone heaven :*O(
Samantha Louise (all good dogs have a middle
name, you know) was the sweetest English Setter I have ever known. The last
years of her life she lived with my former husband, Graeme, in Vancouver, B.
C., Canada.
Graeme called me tonight to tell me that after a brief battle
with lymphoma, he did the right thing and sent her to that endless beach in
the sky where she can chase the seagulls she loved so much forever, without
ever getting too tired, too thirsty or too hot. Sam lived a long 15 years.
An Orange Belton with the most soulful eyes a dog could ever have (a book I
once read about English said that they've got jewels for eyes). Looking into
her eyes was like diving into her soul and heart.
I've been crying over the
loss of Sammy here on earth for a couple of hours now. Graeme made sure she
had a wonderful last few days ... long walks along her favorite dyke, and the
previously forbidden "people food." My heart breaks for him as he is facing
his loss alone. And, I guess I am too. Thank you Graeme for loving her so
very much. And thank you, at DogStar, for giving our Sam her very own bright
light every night.
