I Explained It To St. Peter,
I'd Rather Stay Here,
Outside The Pearly Gate.
I Won't Be A Nuisance,
I Won't Even Bark.
I'll Be Very Patient And Wait.
I'll Be Here Chewing On A Celestial Bone,
No Matter How Long You May Be.
I'd Miss You So Much, If I Went In Alone,
It Wouldn't Be Heaven For Me.

Dear family and friends:

After a long battle to stabilize his Kidney disease and the last 2 weeks of aggressive hospitalization, on Saturday morning, January 20th, my beloved companion of 10 years suffered a major stroke (brought on by secondary complications of hypertension). He was rushed to the veterinary hospital and put in ICU to stabilize his condition. Even with his constant fight to survive, he was unable to improve, suffering seizures. I made the hard decision to let him go to a more peaceful place. He passed away Sunday morning January 21st at 3:37am.

His Story

In the summer of 1991, I rescued Woodie from a Whippet rescue, while living in Connecticut. He was scrawny and young and had spent the first year of his life abused and neglected. When I met him, he leaped into my car through the open window as if making a quick getaway. We were together ever since.

We lived in many places together, saw many things and were a great source of comfort to each other. Most of all, he taught me stability, responsibility and unconditional love.

In his memory

I am urging anyone that is thinking of getting a pet to rescue or adopt an "unwanted" animal as they will always know and appreciate your kindness more than any pet you purchase and will reward you with loyalty and love. There are many pure breed rescues as well as local shelters and mixed breed organizations that desperately need your consideration.

In addition, local shelters and other animal groups can use any old towels and/or blankets, pet food donations and supplies as well as tax deductible donations. Please contact me for further information.

Woodie, You were my first, but not my last. When I got you, the die was cast. No other breed would ever do A whippet companion loyal and true. You taught me the true meaning of love You wait for me in the heavens above. No other dog can take your place, You were the first, the tops, the ace.
