Spanky came to us after I hit him in the road with my truck one night. We didn't know how old he was, but he vet said he was probably about 2 years old. A few months later, we found out that Spanky had heartworms. The vet administered the treatment and all seemed to be fine. As the days passed, we noticed that Spanky was not acting like he was before the treatment. In his final days, he was so weak that he couldn't bear his on weight. On the last day that he was alive, I was going to discuss with my wife about getting him put to sleep.
I spent al day with him, petting and hugging him, talking to him, crying, and praying that God would put his suffering to an end. That night, Spanky took his last breath in the arms of my wife and stopped suffering.
