Our beautiful 13 year girl Kitty (the dog) passed away from kidney failure in July 2000.
We love you, Kitty-you'll always be in our hearts.
She Is Love
Kitty was found stray
In Riverside Park
Just 8 months old
And oh what a spark
She became my companion
My brown eyed girl
And gave me a new perspective
On the world
You see at that time
I was feelin' blue
And then along came Kitty
Barking "How do you do?"
It was love at first site
So home with me she came
And this crazy little pup
Brought joy into my life again
Some said that Kitty
Looked like a bear
What with her coat
Of thick brown hair
That lightened to blonde
After time in the sun
And like most other blondes
Kitty had more fun
She had a ball chasing squirrels
And hogs named hedge
And digging up stuff
At the water's edge
And sniffing things
That smelt really rank
And then rolling in them
Until she too really stank
She'd make a mess of the bed
When building her nest
When the day was over
And it was time to rest
She'd crumple the blankets
With her snout & her teeth
And then spin around a few times
Before plopping down to sleep.
She was a kind, gentle girl
As good as can be
And made many dog friends
During her life in NYC
Sherman, Darla & Madame X
They had been stray just like her
And can't forget Theo
A Golden Retriever extraordinaire
Kitty was loved by so many
Especially by Mom
Who treated her royally
And then some
She gave her tons of treats
And many walks around the block
And took her for car rides
When going out to shop
During the past few years
Kitty started to slow down
Began resting more
Less running around
Although she still was able
To climb all the way
5 flights to our apartment
3 times a day
About 6 months ago
Kitty's kidneys began to fail
They slowly shut down
Her mortality unveiled
"There is nothing we can do"
Those dreaded words the vet did say
And on the 24th of July
Our little girl passed away
There's a hole in my heart
And an emptiness inside
Now that Kitty's gone
I think about her all the time
She was an angel here on earth
And now is one up above
The sweetest dog that ever lived
That's my Kitty, "she is love"
