Keeta Marie
New to our home September 27, 1988, she was three years old and a
definite "fix me up". Her manners were a little on the wild side, but
her heart was gold. She made friends with Zach, our Golden Retrriever,
the very next day when he took her down to the creek for a hunting
expedition. From that point on they became buddies and later soul
mates.
Keeta found joy in doing simple things. She loved to watch me plant my
flowers at our home at 3526 (our first home). She followed me from
place to place as I toiled in the yard. She loved to watch Ed mow the
lawn from her favorite place--the front porch where she could see all.
In the back, she would plant herself under a young tree to watch the
lawn care expeditions or the opening and closing of the pool. She loved
to watch from a safe distance by the shed the fun of the family
splashing in the pool. Her greatest joy came when the kids in the
neighborhood gathered for a game of tennis ball. Sometimes she'd get in
the way. That was rare though.
When we moved to 3927 (our present home), she was 8 years old. The
change was hard on her but she was with her family and that's all that
mattered. She adjusted.
Her greatest joy now was going for a long walk through the neighborhood
where all the kids knew her by name.
Keeta lived long past her 10 year expectancy to the ripe old age of 15.
She was such an important part of my family. She was one of my greatest
friends. I cannot express the emptiness I feel today, January 13,
2000. I will always miss her.
